For determining the winner of The Hindu Trophy for the Dog of the Year, 16 points are awarded for a Best in Show, 14 points for a 2nd Best in Show, 12 points for a 3rd Best in Show, 10 points for a 4th Best in Show, 8 points for a 5th Best in Show, 6 points for a 6th Best in Show, 4 points for a 7th Best in Show and a 2 points for a 8th Best in Show. Readers may note that if any exhibitor has more than one win to his credit with the same dog under a particular judge he is entitled to take into account only the highest point obtained at any Pointed show under the judge. The method and rules for calculating points for the Reserve Dog of the Year is the same as the Hindu Trophy for the Dog of the Year.

For determining the winner of the Southern Prides Trophy for the Dog of the Year Bred in India and for the Sivaganga Trophy for the Puppy of the year each win is assigned 10 points and more than one win under the same judge will not be taken into account for determining the winner . For all these trophies, only points won at POINTED SHOWS are taken into account.

As regards the Lakshmi Trophy for the Breeder of the Year the method of calculation is the same as that of the Hindu Trophy for the Dog of the Year except that all shows both Pointed as well as Non-pointed will be taken into account.

The Rules for calculating the breed specific Trophies are: Calculation of points are the same as for Dog of the Year and both pointed and non pointed shows to be taken into consideration for calculating points. At pointed shows, a line up placing will get an additional 5 points besides the points already won.
